Colocasia ‘Black Coral'
Supplied in a 9cm pot

This large tropical species is traditionally used as a vegetable in Asian continents due to its edible corm, but is more often used in Europe as a stunning foliage plant. This variety has huge, jet black, heart shaped leaves that will undoubtably improve a shaded area on the patio, or around a water feature.
Grows to around 150cm tall and requires a constantly moist soil throughout the growing season.  Best growth in a sheltered spot in dappled shade, but best leaf colour is produced in full sun and plenty of water. Store tubers overwinter in a dry, frost free place. Bagging with just moist vermiculite over winter helps prevent the tubers/corms from drying out too much.

Light shade/full sun
Well drained  but moist soil
RHS hardiness rating H2/H3

Plants are supplied in a 9cm pot, with their compost and are similar to the plants seen in pictures 3 and 4. Pictures 1 and 2 shows a mature planted specimen and is not the plant for sale.

These plants have recently been potted up (25/06/21) and should be grown on in their 9cm pots for several weeks.
