Mangave ‘Pineapple Express’

Mangave 'Pineapple Express' is a eye-catching succulent hybrid. It forms a compact, symmetrical rosette of long, slender, blue-green leaves heavily splattered with deep burgundy spots, looking much like the spiky crown of a pineapple. Very drought tolerant, making it a perfect patio plant.

Mangave are a group of striking hybrid succulents created by the crossing of Agave and Manfreda plants. It blends the bold architectural structure and durability of an agave with the faster growth rate, softer spines, and vibrant, colourful patterns of a Manfreda. The first Mangave are thought to be the result of a cross between Manfreda variegata and Agave mitis.
Mangave thrive best in full sun, which also brings out the richer leaf colours and various spots. Mangave require a loose, fast-draining potting mix to prevent root rot. They are very drought-tolerant, so allow the soil to dry out completely between watering.
Sadly not hardy but are happy kept on the dry side in a frost free greenhouse.
