Darmera peltata
Supplied in various pot sizes

This is a slow spreading rhizomatous perennial, which comes from mountainous areas in Western USA, where it grows by damp and boggy steam sides. Darmera peltata appears first in March or April, when it’s tall flower stems of 60 to 80cm in height rise from the rhizome. The flowers on top of the stems are numerous five petalled white or light pink and arranged in a rounded dome. Later, after the flowers have gone, the large, peltate leaves rise and develop. The leaves are dark green and on established plants can be up to 50cm across and held on 100-120cm tall. The large plate shaped leaves turn red in autumn and then die back to ground level.
This is a fantastic bog side plant for sun or semi shade, looks great when planted with Gunnera and other water side perennials and fully hardy.
