This is a wonderful addition to a shady area in an exotic garden. In late spring a sweetly scented candy-pink and white flower in the form of a hooded spathe is produced. This is followed by large three lobed ovate leaves. Originally from woodland in western China, A. candidissimum requires a shady position in soil rich in organic matter that remains moist during the growing period.

Plants are supplied as a single large bulb growing in a 1 litre pot, with their compost and are similar to the plants seen in pictures 3 and 4. Pictures 1 and 2 shows the flowers on a planted specimen as an example of what to expect and is not the plant for sale. Bulbs have been potted up this spring and buyers should wait until growth appears before planting out.
