Supplied as a bare root tuber in April and May
This fabulous ginger lily hails from the Eastern areas of the Himalayas. Tropical looking but very hardy and reliable in well drained but rich moist summer soil. The underground rhizome makes many strong pseudo-stems with long tapered leaves topped with spikes of small apricot orange flowers tightly packed together. The exotic flowers are followed by seed pods that burst open in late autumn to reveal bright red berries. Grows to between 80 cm to 120cm depending on cultivation conditions.
If you want to bring the tropics to your garden, this is the plant to go for.
