SEEDS SUPPLIED IN VARIOUS AMOUNTS
P. ludlowii is endemic to a small upland area of southeastern Tibet, but has become a favourite in European gardens. This tree Peony is an open, upright medium-sized deciduous shrub with large, divided, finely cut leaves. Flowers, that follow the foliage in spring, are bright golden-yellow, cup shaped and up to 10cm in wide. The seed pods ripen in September to October, turning red before they split open to reveal large black round seeds.
Grow in full sun to partial shade in well drained soil, needs space as it can easily grow to 2.5meters high x 3.0 meters wide.

SEED GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS.
Wash and then soak seeds for 12 hours. Sow seeds in large pots (5 to 10 Litre) using a well drained compost mix. We use 40% coir, 40% John Innes Number 1, and 20% Horticultral grit. Cover seeds to a dept on 2cm and then cover again with a thin layer of fine grit. Place the pots in a warm sheltered position outside, make sure they do not dry out or become water logged (we place out pots on a gravelled area).
BE PATIENT. It takes around one year for the seeds to germinate, producing a root first. The first foliage only emerges in year two. Seedlings are ready to pot up or plant out in year three.
