Echinocereus reichenbachii is a slowly branching cylindrical shaped cactus, with strong small curved spines. Flowers are purple with a dark centre and are slightly fragrant. This is a near hardy species of cactus but must be kept dry in winter to avoid rot. Best grown in shallow pots and given winter protection in a greenhouse or planted out and given protection of a temporary clear roof. Reported to be hardy to -10℃
Well drained soil
RHS hardiness rating H3 (but we think H4 if kept dry)
Plants are supplied in a 11cm pot, with their compost and are similar to the plants seen in pictures 3 and 4. Picture 1 and 2 shows our specimen plant flowering and this is not the plant for sale.
