Blechnum brasiliense ‘Volcano'
The Brazilian Dwarf Tree Fern.
Supplied in a 9cm pot

A new introduced to the UK, this stunning evergreen Brazilian 'tree' fern does form short stem as it matures. But it is the eruption of emerging bright red fronds that this amazing fern is rightly admired for. The new fronds create a distinctive large shuttlecock shape, making this fern strongly architectural. As the foliage mature the fronds turn bronze, then finally a deep green colour. This plant should be grown on for a few years in a pot and given winter protection under frost free glass. Can be planted out in mild urban micro climates or southern uk areas, but should still be protected from frost. Can also be used as a house plant if you have room!

Part shade
Well drained Ericaceous soil
RHS hardiness rating H3

Plants are supplied in a 9cm pot, with their compost and are similar to the plants seen in pictures 2 and 3. Picture one shows new growth on a planted specimen as an example and is not the plant for sale.

Pot up in small increments to avoid ‘drowning the root ball, use an ericaceous loam based compost mix.
