A stunning, frost-hardy member of the pineapple family from high on the Chilean mountains. In mid to late summer, bright, kingfisher-blue flowers appear in a central rosette of narrow prickly leaves whilst the leaf bases turn a dazzling lipstick red, creating a truly eye catching display.
Grow this terrestrial bromeliad in full sun, in a sheltered spot. Must have free draining compost. Can be grown in pots and given greenhouse protection in very cold winter areas.
